                                    Life
Ruth Dieck grew up with her parents, four older sisters and a dog on the old family estate in Mönchengladbach on the Lower Rhine in the 1960s and 1970s.
Encouraged by her parents and siblings, from an early age, she loved painting and writing stories, which she illustrated herself.
All her pictures tell amusing stories based by experiences and observations from her large, extraordinarily lively family.
At the "Gymnasium am Geroweier" in Mönchengladbach, she chose Art as a major subject in her final years of school.
Her teacher, A. Fanscheid, greatly appreciated her talent supported her whenever possible.
Nevertheless, Ruth initially studied social pedagogy and dedicated herself to the idea of helping children with problems through art therapies.
She then studied painting in Düsseldorf for a year and attended the Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Florence for three years for three consecutive summers .
For many years she lived aboard a sailing boat, travelling mainly through North Africa, Europe and Turkey,
and participated in group exhibitions with other artists in various countries.
During this time she got to know various artists, including G. de Simone, from whom she learnt the art of ceramic painting in Sicily.
Ruth Dieck has an adult daughter and lives with her partner in Campos, Mallorca, for 30 years.

Her technique can only be described as "mixed’or "eclectic"
She prefers to use acrylics and watercolours, applying colour to pre-drawn objects and forms, whether on canvas, wood or paper.
Her subjects are mainly animals, sometimes in a naively surreal style and endowed with distinctly human characteristics – cheerful, sad, in love, eccentric. Yet, for Ruth, the subject matter is not the most important; colour plays an even more significant role.
Each painting is part of a story.
Observing the world around her with a twinkle in the eye, Ruth creates works that radiate joy, humour and a zest for life.
She affectionately describes her paintings: “children’s stories for adults”.
